Proprietary Studio Technology

Three Core Frameworks Built to Solve Expensive Engineering Bottlenecks

Instead of building one-off prototypes, every product at Thunderbear Studios is built on three reusable, production-tested software frameworks developed in-house.

1. AI Code Security & Cost Control

Thunderbear Code Guard™ (Agentic Mastery v2.1)

The Problem: AI coding assistants frequently introduce security flaws, leak API keys in URLs, accidentally allocate memory inside 60 FPS or real-time audio loops, and waste token budgets scanning entire codebases.

What Our Framework Does: A zero-dependency pre-save guardrail and AST code indexer that inspects every AI tool action and file edit in <50ms before changes hit disk:

  • Blocks 12 Security Vulnerability Classes: Automatically stops URL key leaks (CWE-598), timing flaws (CWE-208), shell injection (CWE-78), unsafe deserialization (CWE-502), and PII leaks.
  • Enforces Real-Time Performance: Prevents heap allocations and locks inside 60 FPS render loops and real-time audio callbacks.
  • Cuts AI Context Cost: Indexes every class and function in <100ms so AI tools read 50-line surgical slices instead of dumping whole files.
Proven Result: Powered 42 consecutive feature releases across C99, C++, C#, and WebGL with 0 security leaks and 100% automated test pass rates across all 8 studio repositories.
2. Persistent AI Memory & Gemini Caching

Resonant Cloud Memory Engine™

The Problem: Standard AI applications forget context across sessions, overwrite historical facts when data changes, and suffer runaway API bills because dynamic prompts break Google Gemini's prefix cache.

What Our Framework Does: A cloud-native memory and prompt-structuring engine running on Google Cloud Run that gives Gemini applications permanent, auditable memory at a fraction of standard token costs:

  • Up to 4× Lower Gemini Token Spend: Compiles prompts into strict static-to-dynamic tiers so over 85% of input tokens hit Google Gemini's KV cache on multi-turn workflows.
  • Time-Tracked Relationship Graph: Combines SQLite-WAL, full-text search (FTS5), vector embeddings, and a <3ms PageRank graph traversal so evolving facts never erase historical records.
  • Serverless Cloud Storage Durability: Engineered for Google Cloud Run Gen2 with transactional Cloud Storage FUSE persistence.
Proven Result: Deployed and running live on Google Cloud Run (resonant-cloud and substrate-core services) powering our commercial AI workspace products.
3. Native C/C++ Modernization

Universal C/C++ to Cloud, 3D & Audio Bridge™

The Problem: Decades of battle-tested simulation engines, games, and pro-audio DSP algorithms are locked inside legacy desktop C/C++ codebases. Rewriting them for the web or cloud takes years and breaks subtle behavior.

What Our Framework Does: A lightweight (~200-line), zero-allocation C99 adapter and lock-free audio pipeline that connects unmodified C/C++ engines directly to modern cloud, web, and mobile frontends:

  • Zero Engine Rewrite Required: Streams live C/C++ state deltas at 60 Hz over stdio, WebSockets, or 2.79 MB Emscripten WebAssembly workers without altering a single rule or RNG calculation.
  • Dirty-State GPU Gating: Rebuilds Three.js WebGL and Godot 4 3D meshes only when state signatures change, sustaining locked 60 FPS on desktop and mobile.
  • Lock-Free Pro-Audio & DMX Pipeline: Single-producer single-consumer (SPSC) ring buffers with zero audio-thread memory allocation.
Proven Result: Runs 4 complete C/C++ engines simultaneously at angband3d.com and forms the core of our commercial VST and stage-lighting suite.

Live Google Cloud Run + Gemini API Proving Ground

Case Study: How We Built Angband 3D (angband3d.com)

To prove what our three frameworks can do under real-world load, we built and open-sourced (GPL-2.0) Angband 3D—taking four massive, 30-year-old C and C++ dungeon simulation engines designed for 1990s text terminals and running them live on Google Cloud Run in first-person 60 FPS 3D with a real-time Google Gemini Native Audio narrator.

● Live on Google Cloud Run (Multi-Region) Google Gemini Native Audio (30 Voices) 4 C/C++ Engines + 2.79 MB WASM Web • Windows • Linux • Android GPL-2.0 Open Source

How the Architecture Works End-to-End

Stage 1 4 Native C/C++ Engines Unmodified Angband 4.2.6, Sil-Q 1.5, FrogComposBand 7.1 & Hengband 3.0 binaries
Stage 2 ~200-Line C99 Bridge Zero-allocation JSON delta stream over Cloud Run WebSockets or in-browser WASM
Stage 3 Dual-Reality 3D + CRT 60 FPS Three.js 2K PBR & Godot 4 C# renderer + instant [Tab] 80×24 terminal
Stage 4 Gemini Living Chronicle Telemetry-grounded AI narration in 30 voice archetypes + illustrated hero sketches

Six Engineering Breakthroughs Inside Angband 3D

1. Four Complete C/C++ Engines, Zero Rule Drift

Players can switch on the Main Menu between Vanilla Angband 4.2.6 (100 dungeon depths), Sil-Q 1.5.0 (tactical stealth), FrogComposBand 7.1.1 (50+ classes & overland wilderness), and Hengband 3.0.1 (complete with live English, Bilingual, and Japanese Kanji translation). Because the original C/C++ binaries run unmodified, 35 years of game balance and combat math remain 100% authentic.

2. Zero-Turn 360° Camera Look in a Turn-Based Grid

Traditional roguelikes advance time only when you act. Our bridge decouples spatial inspection from simulation turns: rotating your camera 360°, looking up and down, or inspecting monsters in 3D costs 0 game turns, while stepping, attacking, or casting sends an authoritative 1-turn command to the C engine.

3. Instant [Tab] Dual-Reality Terminal & Visual Cards

Pressing [Tab] switches in 0ms between first-person 3D exploration and the authentic 80×24 ASCII CRT terminal. On top of the terminal, our client-side screen parser (ScreenContext) automatically converts text prompts into 1-click visual spellbooks, inventory sheets, and bindable quick-action bars without modifying engine source code.

4. Fact-Checked Google Gemini Voice Narrator

The Living Chronicle uses Google Gemini and Gemini Native Audio to chronicle your hero's journey in 30 distinct voice personas. A deterministic grounding filter (ChronicleGrounder) verifies every monster, artifact, and HP value against live C-engine telemetry to prevent AI hallucinations, while proximity detection pre-generates boss audio before you open the door.

5. 58-Model 3D Bestiary, 8K Viewmodels & Studio Reverb

Combines 58 rigged 3D creature models, normal-mapped 2.5D illustrated sprites, procedural Catmull-Rom spline weapons, dynamic torchlight shaders, and a Web Audio convolution reverb engine modeling stone dungeon acoustics.

6. Universal .SAV Portability Across 4 Platforms

A single binary .SAV file moves seamlessly between Google Cloud Run Web, 100% Offline Browser WebAssembly, Windows & Linux Desktop (.NET 8 & Godot 4.7), and Android APK, with automatic browser IndexedDB to Cloud Run backup synchronization.

How It Was Built: Developed across 42 structured engineering workstreams using Thunderbear Code Guard™. Every commit is verified by 29 automated fast-tier UI/DOM/security test suites and 11 live headless C-engine smoke tests before deployment to Google Cloud Run.
